Framsidan

The bar at street level at Stora Nygatan 41, with its own entrance and longer opening hours than the cellar. Food is served throughout opening hours, and the bar has both the medieval and the decidedly not.

Kroppkakor

Our food is kroppkakor — Swedish potato dumplings, served with lingonberries and browned butter.

  • Filled with pork — 125 SEK

  • Filled with mushroom, vegetarian — 125 SEK

We serve them every day, from the moment we open until we close — late-night food included, long after the kitchen down in the vaults has shut. No booking needed, just come in.

The bar

On tap you will find the same as in the vaults: beers from Gotland, cider and our own mölska. The mead selection is smaller here — the full range is downstairs.

What Framsidan does have is everything the Middle Ages did not — the ordinary bar spirits and the cocktails.

If you are seated down in the vaults and want something the Middle Ages never had, that is no trouble: walk up the stairs, buy it at the bar and come back down.

Ask at the bar for what we have today — the selection up here is smaller than down in the vaults.

Outdoor seating

When the weather allows we set up on the street outside — tables in red, blue, yellow and white on the cobblestones, under our awning.

Finding us

Stora Nygatan 41 in Gamla Stan, a couple of minutes from Gamla stan underground station. Framsidan has its own entrance — the cellar is at number 43, in the door next to ours.

The stairs inside Framsidan lead down to Riddargången, so you can move freely between the floors when both are open.
